Spending three days in a beautiful lake-side cabin in the lake district of Finland
For my mothers birthday, we spent three days in a typical wooden cabin right by a lake in Finland (Savonlinna was the nearest city) that had, no shower, no bathroom (it was an outhouse), a smoke sauna, and a row boat. We found two fishing poles and then fished at least once every day of the three days we stayed at the cabin. Out of fourteen fish that we caught six of them we ate (the others were too small) and one of the fish was really big. The cabin had a typical descaler for the fish (a piece of wood with bottle caps nailed in) and a wood grill and smoker to cook them. The fish were really good, especially the big fish.
The sauna was really fun because you had to heat the fire (it was a wooden fire) and then put water on the rocks to increase the temperature with the steam. Finnish people LOVE their sauna, traditionally, you make it get really hot (80C), stay in it for a while and then jump into the cold lake and then back in the hot sauna. The row boat was really fun because we could go to nearby islands and explore them a little. On the last day we went around one of the bigger island close to the house. It was really hard coming back because the current and a strong wind were against us but we made it.
