A Trip to Paris 🇫🇷

A Trip to Paris 🇫🇷

We have a tradition in our family that when we turn 10 and 17, we take an individual trip with each of our parents. So, when the time came when I turned 10, we started exploring some options…. but due to COVID, we had to put our plans on hold. Two years later, October 2021, when I’m nearly 12, I finally went to Paris with my dad!

We had a blast!

Here are some of the highlights during our 3 day trip to ‘La Ville Lumiere’ (the city of light):

This a really awesome gallery of two famous artists (Dali and Gaudi) with music from Pink Floyd. It take some of their most famous works, and then someone (or a group of people) animates them to form a really cool 30 minute show of floor to ceiling a

This a really awesome gallery of two famous artists (Dali and Gaudi) with music from Pink Floyd. It takes some of their most famous works, animates them to form a really cool 30 minute show of floor to ceiling animations of incredible art, accompanied with nice music. It’s an incredible place.

If you haven’t been to a Cafe in Paris, you haven’t been to the city. The cafes are everywhere, ranging from just coffee and pastries, to options of full-blown breakfast, lunch and dinner. Multiple treats are really good, but I think my favorite dess

The Catacombs

This is my favorite Paris attraction. It is eerie but at the same time extremely interesting! Incredible respect for the dead, instead of just throwing millions of bones under the streets of Paris, they arranged them very creatively, making art out of the bones. The Catacomb tunnels were originally where people used to mine what makes pretty much every building, a stone called Paris Stone (such an original name!). Then, a plague hit, and the cemeteries overflowed, and then they dumped millions of bones underneath the streets! It’s an incredible place, but not at all creepy!

Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower has a beautiful park underneath it, the Champ de Mars, it is a perfect spot for lunch! With a baguette and some cheese, it was awesome to sit and enjoy Paris’s most well-known attraction! It is beautiful to just admire it and it is really not necessary to go up to the top. (although the panoramic views from the top must be amazing!)

Arc de Triomphe

This is a truly incredible attraction. It was beautiful, and has some pretty interesting history! In multiple spots on the Arc, there are names of battles that Napoleon emerged victorious from. It is very large, and a large round-a-bout circles it at the base, with lots of streets running out in all directions. I really enjoyed visiting this attraction!

Notre Dame

This is such an incredible place. It’s a beautiful, large church, built during the Gothic era, so it has the gargoyles, and multiple spires twisting into the sky. In 2019 a fire spread rapidly across the top of the church, causing the whole top three spires to collapse in on themselves. Due to the fire, the inside of the church isn’t open, as construction is taking place. Rumor is it might take 20 years for a full restoration! However, just visiting it on the outside was incredible!

Sacre Coeur

This is another incredible church. It has multiple domes, and the gothic spires, reminding me a bit of the mosques in Turkey. It’s a beautiful and grand church. You can go inside, and I loved seeing the colored glass designs, and the beautiful and impressive mosaics. However, there is also an option of climbing 397 steps up to get to the top of the central dome to have an incredible view of Paris. The Sacre Coeur is built on a hill, so it had an incredible and impressive view at the top. You can circle around the top dome, and look not only at the view of Paris, but also the stonework of the gargoyles, statues, and the church itself. The Sacre Coeur is a must when in Paris!

One of the Cafe's scattered around Paris

If you haven’t been to a Cafe in Paris, you haven’t been to the city. The cafes are everywhere, ranging from just coffee and pastries, to options of full-blown breakfast, lunch and dinner. Multiple treats are really good, but I think my favorite dessert was the Creme Brulee, which was sugar on top of sugar on top of sugar. No, literally, it was filled with it. The Creme Brulee had a creme bottom, then a delicious torched crisp sugar on top. It was really good! As for the savory, I love the Steak Tartare, and the Croque Monsieur. The Steak Tartare is raw ground beef, with a raw egg on it. It sounds unhealthy, but in reality, it’s delicious!! The Croque Monsieur is a deliciously crisp bread, with a wonderful cheese melted inside, making it a delicious sandwich, though that’s an underestimation. It’s much better than a sandwich!!

A Creme Brulee

All in all, Paris was an incredible, fun, and a beautiful city. I loved just walking around, seeing all the fashionable people and streets, along with the beautiful main attractions. I would totally recommend it to anyone who is wanting to see a new city!! I had a great time hanging out with my dad, and getting to “connect” with him, one on one. It was awesome!!!!!!
