After a week in Puerto Escondido (see part I), we headed to Huatulco.

We stayed in the La Crucecita area in a nice condominium with pools and walking distance to the beach. We had not heard about this area (it is not as well known as Puerto Escondido, Sayulita, etc) and didn’t know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised!

It felt like a place with a good combination of local charms but also good infrastructure due to expats and foreign retirees in the area. Many great grocery stores, good dining options and many different types of beaches in the area.

Our favorite beach was La Entrega. The water was calm, cristal clear and the best snorkeling we have had so far! We saw hundreds of fishes in all sizes, shapes and colors. We also saw stingrays and even a sea turtle! There are many restaurant options on the beach with a good selection of food and drinks.

Another fun day trip is a short hike to Bahia del Organo. It is very rustic as it can only be reached by foot or boat, but bring some sun screen, snacks and plenty of water and you will have a gorgeous beach all to yourself!

The historic downtown is filled with touristy stores and restaurants but you can also find some great places selling good quality silver products as well as nice restaurants, ice cream stores and bars to enjoy refreshments.

Huatulco was definitely a pleasant surprise for us and we enjoyed our week long stay! We even got to celebrate Madeline’s 6th birthday there!
